So you've taken the decision to approach Spark Succeed for coaching, you're excited and perhaps a little nervous - you are really keen to get the most out of your coaching sessions and want to be an A-star student.
Well, you have come to the right place!
How to become an A-star coachee
Here are the 4 killer tips for getting the most out of your coaching sessions:
Tip 1 Come with a clear goal and focus. -- There might be many issues you would like to raise, it's important to come to each coaching session with a particular focus. Remember the quote by Brian Tracy - “A clear vision, backed by definite plans, gives you a tremendous feeling of confidence and personal power.”
Tip 2 Come prepared to be challenged. -- A coach will be asking you powerful questions, to challenge your thinking, to get you to see the opposing view and other possibilities. Don't be surprised if the questions make you stop and think.
Tip 3 Understand that a coach is not there to tell you what to do. -- A coach will be supporting you to make decisions, encouraging you, holding you accountable for the actions you've agreed for yourself at the previous session. They will challenge you and will encourage you to think outside the box.
Tip 4 Be willing to feel the fear - and do it anyway! -- In working with you to achieve your goals, your coach will be asking questions and agreeing actions to get you out of your comfort zone. Because, of course, this is where the best learning lies! This means the actions and decisions discussed and committed to, are likely to be beyond what you would have set for yourself.
